New bakery cafe concept opens in Mason

A locally-owned bakery and café opened in Mason should appeal to fresh food lovers, one of the owners said.

Great Harvest Bread Co. opened Nov. 13 at 7912 Mason-Montgomery Road serving loaves of bread, made-to-order sandwiches and other menu items using whole wheat flour milled daily on-site.

The new restaurant is located in the White Blossom Shopping Center next to United Dairy Farmers at the intersection of Mason-Montgomery and Socialville-Foster roads.

Husband and wife team Corbin and Francisca Koepke of the Cincinnati-area opened the franchise because they wanted to own their own business, Corbin said.

One reason people should try the new restaurant is “if people want bread the way it ought to be,” Corbin Koepke, a Montana native, said.

Great Harvest sells several bread varieties such as Honey Whole Wheat, Cinnamon Chip and Cranberry Orange. The signature Honey Whole Wheat bread consists of five basic ingredients: the freshly milled flour, filtered water, honey, salt and yeast, Koepke said.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The storefront is closed Sundays.

Originally founded in 1976 in Great Falls, Montana, Great Harvest has more than 200 bakery sites across the country, according to the company.
