New attraction coming to Wake Nation this summer

Wake Nation, the wakeboarding park in Fairfield, expects to open a new water park geared toward young children and families this May.

Called Aqua Glide Water Park, the venue will feature water slides and other attractions. One of these was installed last year at Wake Nation’s Houston location, and it went over well so the original Fairfield park is following suit, said Brian Frantz, the general manager. It will open May 1, when Wake Nation starts its season.

“All the little kids loved it and all the parents loved it, so we decided to go ahead and bring it here,” Frantz said.

The park will include a water trampoline and a “blob,” which is a “big airbag where one kid will sit on one end and his friends will jump on the other end and it shoots them into the water,” Frantz said. The park will also have at least one slide and some other attractions to be determined.

Aqua Glide Water Park is meant for ages 5 and older, but parents can also get on the slides and other attractions with their children, Frantz said.

Visitors to Wake Nation will buy a pass specifically for the water park, where the price depends on the time. Regardless of the number of kids in a party, one hour costs $5, 2 cost $8, four hours cost $12 and an all-day pass will cost $14. To use both the adult cable park and the new water park will require the cable park pass, plus an additional $5, Frantz said.

The features and prices for the existing cable park will remain unchanged, Frantz said. The park has two full-time employees and 10 part-time employees. The new water park will allow for two additional part-timers.
