Middletown reports spike in confirmed coronavirus cases

The number of coronavirus cases reported in Middletown spiked by 14 on Thursday after rising by three confirmed cases the day before.

Nancy McKillop of the Middletown City Health Department said a total of 17 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported for the past two days, bringing the city’s totals to 64 confirmed cases and two probable cases. There have been two deaths atributed to COVID-19 in Middletown.

On Thursday, following confirmed cases were reported as not being hospitalized:

  • A 50-year-old man
  • A 52-year-old woman
  • A 47-year-old woman
  • A 73-year-old man
  • A 55-year-man
  • A 16-year-old girl
  • A 27-year old woman
  • A 32-year-old woman
  • A 10-year-old girl
  • A five-year-old girl
  • A 48-year-old man
  • A 46-year-old man
  • A 40-year-old woman.

One person was hospitalized Thursday, a 72-year-old woman.

On Wednesday, the Middletown Health Department reported three confirmed coronaviurs COVID-19 cases. Those cases included a 44-year-old woman, a 35-year-old woman, and an 82-year-old woman. None of the women were hospitalized.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, the Ohio Department of Health reported 24,800 confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide with 4,718 hospitalizations including 1,268 admissions to intensive care units. There have been 1,388 confirmed deaths statewide. In addition, there are 1,557 probable cases and 146 probable deaths due to COVID-19.

The age range of coronavirus COVID-19 cases range from under one-year-old to 108 years of age with the median age of 50.
