When police arrived, they spoke with the store clerk and a customer. The clerk said a white man, approximately 50 to 60 years old with graying hair, wearing a red bandanna, entered the story and pulled out a handgun, demanding the cash in the drawer, according to the incident report.
About $200 was taken in the robbery, the incident report said.
The customer told police she pulled in the the parking lot as the suspect was walking out the door. She said the clerk told her what happened and she attempted to follow the vehicle the suspect left in, a gold-colored Chevrolet Cavalier that went westbound on Central Avenue. The customer said she last saw the vehicle continuing west on Central Avenue and passing Marshall Road at a high rate of speed, according to the incident report.
After viewing surveillance video, police said the suspect was wearing a dark-colored shirt with white lettering, light-colored blue jeans, work books, neon yellow or gold gloves, and a camouflage hat. The suspect displayed a black or blued revolver with a wooden handle that was pointed at the counter when he demanded the money from the clerk, according to the police incident report.
The surveillance camera also filmed the vehicle that had dropped the suspect off at the gas station, which exited the parking lot and went back onto Central Avenue and turned left on to South Dixie Highway before pulling into the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. After the suspect exited the store, he looked back to see where the car was at. The car circled back to Central Avenue and slowed to pick him up.
