Middletown police staked out a Kensington Road residence Sunday night and apprehended a man wanted in connection with a Columbus homicide.

Vershawn Davis Jr., 21, was taken into custody as he arrived at a house in the 500 block of Kensington Road, according to Sgt. David Birk.

Davis was wanted on a warrant for murder in Columbus for the Nov. 25 slaying of his father Vershawn Davis, according to Columbus police. When the Middletown Special Response Team received information that he was in route, they surrounded the house and waited for his arrival.

“He was taken into custody without incident,” Birk said. A handgun was also recovered.

Davis has a criminal history in Middletown with arrests for assault, robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was wanted on a bench warrant through Middletown Municipal Court for failure to appear in February on an assault charge.
