Fire fighters from two departments responded to a fire at a West Chester Twp. country club Tuesday.

West Chester Fire Chief Rick Prinz said the West Chester Fire Department received mutual aid from the Liberty Twp. Fire Department after a fire was reported at Wetherington Golf & Country Club’s clubhouse

“Luckily,” he said, the fire was contained to the outside of the Cape Cod style clubhouse, 7337 Country Club Lane, and there were no injuries to firefighters or club members.

Prinz said the fire started on the exterior of the clubhouse and climbed up one of the columns that leads to a balcony. Those inside the clubhouse were evacuated as firefighters fought the fire. The fire was out in less than two hours, he said.

He said the cause of the fire and the damage amount to the clubhouse are to be determined while the investigation continues.

The Sharonville Fire Department was on stand-by during the incident, according to Drew Reeder, public relations coordinator for West Chester Twp.

Wetherington Golf & Country Club was founded in 1991, and opened for play in 1992, according to its website. The clubhouse is valued at over $1 million, according to the Butler County Auditor’s Office.
