Sgt. Matthew Tombragel said a male and female employee were slapped and punched by a man who’d been staying at the hotel for a corporate event. The suspect was identified as Len A. Jones, 65, of Birmingham, Ala.
Tombragel said Jones left the hotel after the assault and his vehicle, a silver Jeep Cherokee, was spotted at nearby Dingle House Irish Pub & Grub on West Chester Towne Centre Road.
“We tried to place him under arrest and he was combative and fled in his car,” Tombragel said.
Tombragel said a pursuit began west on Union Centre Boulevard onto southbound Ohio 747. The chase continued onto Interstate 275 and later onto Interstate 75 South.
Police units from Sharonville and Madeira assisted in the chase which ended on I-71, south of I-275. Tombragel said spike strips were used to stop the suspect’s vehicle.
Tombragel said Jones was still combative after the pursuit ended and a K9 unit was used to apprehend him. Jones was bitten by the dog and treated at Bethesda North Hospital before being charged.
Jones is charged with two counts of assault, resisting arrest, failure to comply, OVI and reckless operation. He is being held in Butler County Jail on $13,000 bond.
