Ohio 122 in Madison Twp. now open, hours after head-on semi crash

UPDATE @ 3 p.m.: Ohio 122 in Madison Twp. has reopened after both lanes were closed for hours following a head-on semi crash this morning, officials said.

The semi traveling westbound on Ohio 122, between Renee Drive and Oxford Middletown Road went left of center and hit a semi traveling eastbound head-on, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Both drivers were treated for minor injuries, said Sgt. Melissa Gerhardt.

UPDATE @ 11:50 a.m.:

Ohio 122 in both directions remains closed, dispatchers said. They are unsure when the road will reopen.

UPDATE @ 10:40 a.m.:

Ashley Short, manager of the Madison Food Mart, was taking a smoke break when she saw the two trucks collide and one of them flipped three times, she said.

She said the accident “scared the crap out” of her because of how close the trucks came to hitting the gas pumps. After the accident, she immediately called 9-1-1, she said.

“It was terrible,” she said. “It was a nightmare. I froze for a second.”

INITIAL REPORT:

Ohio 122 in Madison Twp. remains closed this morning after two semi trucks crashed between Renee Drive and Oxford Middletown Road, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. and the road will be closed in both directions for an unknown amount of time, officials said.

The two drivers received minor injuries, officials said.

The accident remains under investigation.
