Retired lieutenant colonel starts new Middletown business

A new solutions-based business is the work of a person with 20 years working in logistics for the United States Air Force.

Caring Transitions of Middletown, a new senior-focused relocation and estate-clearing company, serves Middletown, Monroe, Franklin, Lebanon, Springboro, Waynesville, Morrow, Oregonia and the surrounding areas.

Caring Transitions’ trained professionals handle decluttering, organizing, packing, moving, resettling, in-home estate sales and online auctions, estate clearing and preparing homes for market.

The new business is the work of Justin Lavadour, a retired lieutenant colonel with more than 20 years of service in the Air Force. Lavadour said finding solutions to complex problems is more than a passion, it’s the foundation on which he built his career.

During his time with the military, he provided relocation services for U.S. and Allied military forces worldwide. His specialty? Organizing stressful and chaotic environments and finding solutions to complex challenges.

Lavadour’s most recent assignment was to evaluate and redesign the process for how the Air Force plans moves.

“I was always prepared to move anyone or anything anywhere at any time,” he said. “I moved everything from cars to equipment to soldiers and every move required its own plan and its own backup plan.

“I’ve also moved 35 times in my life, which is a lot, even for someone in the military.”

Lavadour said when he started thinking about what he wanted to do next, he realized that Caring Transitions would be “a great way” to use his experience to serve something bigger than himself and make a difference.

Caring Transitions of Middletown, which is part of the national Caring Transitions franchise, is bonded and insured and all employees are CRT-trained and background checked.

Lavadour said Caring Transitions’ services are “perfect for managing the many aspects of a senior move or assisting with the process of downsizing to provide a safer living situation,” as well as for busy families and people clearing out the home of a loved one who has moved into assisted care or passed away.

All of Caring Transitions’ services are customizable to allow clients to choose the solution that best fits their needs, he said.

Lavadour said he also understands the impact relocations and estate clearings can have on families, having helped provide care for aging grandparents and relatives and being a part of family discussions about transitioning older relatives.

“I know how traumatic transitions can be, whether you’re right-sizing, moving into assisted living or clearing out a loved one’s home,” he said. “It’s hard and it’s emotional, even when you have a plan in place. If you were to write down every decision that has to be made in those situations and put them on a wall, you’d easily cover the wall.

Rather than making all those decisions individually, potential clients can make one decision: to let Lavadour and his team “take care of that wall.”

“That’s what we’re here for,” he said. “To alleviate the stress of those transitions and to solve whatever problems you are facing.”
