New restaurant to replace closed Applebee’s in Butler County

The fast casual restaurant chain garnered a permit to perform renovation work at 3169 Princeton Road in a space formerly occupied by Applebee’s Grill + Bar, which was shuttered as part of a mass closings in late 2018.

The McAlister’s Deli chain was founded in 1989 in Oxford, Mississippi, by retired dentist Dr. Don Newcomb. Its menu includes sandwiches, soups, salads, spuds, side dishes, desserts and more, including 32-ounce glasses of tea.

There are more than 400 McAlister’s Deli locations in 28 states, ranging from Virginia in the East to Florida in the South to Arizona in West to Michigan in the North. The only other Butler County location exists in West Chester Twp. Other area locations include Deerfield Twp., Cincinnati, Dayton and Beavercreek.

We’ve reached out to McAlister’s Deli to determine when the restaurant might open and how many people are expected to be hired.
