COA is collecting personal care and household items to donate to area seniors in need due to the pandemic. Many seniors who normally don’t need assistance are now reaching out for help. More than 183,000 people age 65-plus live in southwestern Ohio – Council on Aging’s service area.
For the past several weeks, through regular programs and monetary donations from the community, COA and it’s regional provider network have been delivering food to seniors in need. COA is providing home-delivered meals and shelf-stable food boxes to those in need. To date, more than 7,000 14-day shelf-stable meal boxes have been delivered — that’s more than 98,000 meals in all.
However, many seniors are running out of other essential supplies such as toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, cleaning supplies, even pet food. COA is partnering with other local organizations, including Frame USA’s Fill the Truck (www.fillthetruck.org) initiative and Crossroads Church, to establish donation sites across southwestern Ohio.
Several donation sites are open this Friday and Saturday, April 3-4:
Friday donation locations include:
• Frame USA Inc. 225 Northland Blvd, Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Lakota Hills Baptist Church 6300 Tylersville Rd., 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. (also Mondays)
• Oak Gymnasium, 800 Oak Ave, Wyoming, OH 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. (also Mondays)
Saturday donation locations include:
• Crossroads Oakley, 3500 Madison Road, Saturday, April 4 only: 10 a.m. to noon
• Crossroads Mason, 990 Reading Road, Saturday, April 4 only: 10 a.m. to noon
• Crossroads West 8575 Bridgetown Road, Saturday, April 4 only: 10 a.m. to noon
• Crossroads East 4450 Eastgate S Drive, Saturday, April 4 only: 10 a.m. to noon
• Frame USA Inc. 225 Northland Blvd, Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
