There will be three prizes: a $100 VISA gift card for the first prize, a $50 Kroger gift card for second prize and a $25 gift card to the business of the winner’s choice for third prize.
All the gift cards are being donated by the Oxford Kroger store.
“We have been thinking about this, knowing we would open soon. Since the Wine Fest is not happening this year, we knew we had to do something, but did not know when,” said Kelli Riggs, president of the Chamber, who said the timing of the reopening worked out well for such a promotion with the Memorial Day holiday Monday. “As we thought more into it, we found the dates with the 15th for outdoor (restaurant service) and the 21st for indoor dining.”
With the reopening of retail businesses, the “Back to Business” Passport program could apply to all chamber members.
“We hope this will get people in the door. There is no minimum. The idea is to just go in the businesses. It might just be a pair of earrings or a drink or an appetizer but it will help to visit a retail,” Riggs said. “It’s a way to do something fun and get people out there and get them in the door.”
The passports were available this past Tuesday at the chamber office Uptown and are still available at the merchant locations as well as in a holder outside the chamber office, 102 W. High St.
Stickers are being provided by the chamber for businesses to give customers for their passports.
Riggs said they are hopeful visitors to Hueston Woods for the holiday week will also come into Oxford and take advantage of the “Back to Business” Passport program.
Passports need to be turned in to the Chamber office by June 1 to be eligible for the prizes.
Riggs also expressed appreciation to Oxford Copy Shop/ Letterman Printing for support of the passport program helping the Chamber give back to Oxford.
“It’s good to see things, even in a slow way, to try to get back to normal a little bit,” she said. “We try to keep information flowing about everything Governor DeWine is doing and opening.”
