DP&L offering money-saving tips to help you through the hot weekend

As temperatures rise into the 90s Saturday and Sunday, air conditioners and fans are likely to be on full blast.

To combat the increase in energy bills, the Dayton Power & Light Company is offering tips to reduce energy while saving money.

DP&L recommends setting air conditioners to "auto" instead of "on" and turning off ceiling fans in unoccupied rooms.

Homeowners should change or clean their filters once a month, as dust makes your unit work harder.

Use ovens, dishwashers and dryers later in the evening to lessen the heat output during the day.

Remember to turn off unnecessary lights and switch to energy-efficient light bulbs that give off less heat.

Practicing these tips, along with insulating your attic and making sure it is properly ventilated, will save you money in the long run, according to DP&L.
