New urgent care center opens in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — If you need a flu shot — either seasonal or H1N1 — Dixie Urgent Care has them.

The urgent care facility opened on Dec. 1 in the Jungle Jim’s complex next to Chipotle on Dixie Highway. It’s the fourth urgent care facility owned by Dr. Serry Hassan.

“We felt that it needed to service the people of this area and the businesses,” Hassan said about opening in the heart of the Ohio 4 business district.

Dixie Urgent Care offers a variety of treatments, from diagnosing and prescribing medicine for various illnesses, treating injuries, performing diagnostic tests, performing physicals and administering vaccinations. They also perform minor surgeries.

Hassan was approached by Jungle Jim’s market representatives about opening an urgent care. He’s been in the business since 1998, and started in it “because I’m a doctor,” he said.

“Primary care offices are limited, only being open from 9 to 5, and you don’t work the weekend,” Hassan said. “We’re open seven days a week and we have extended hours.”

Fairfield Economic Development Manager Greg Kathman said Dixie Urgent Care Center is in the middle of thousands of people and can fill a need.

“Any time you have a variety of options for people to choose from that’s a good thing for consumers of health care,” Kathman said.

Hassan owns the urgent care facilities in Oakley and West Chester Twp. in Ohio and Cold Springs in Kentucky.

Dr. John Pressler is the director of Dixie Urgent Care, which is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. For details, call (513) 868-2345. No appointments are necessary.
