Names chosen for 3 new Fairfield schools

The Fairfield Board of Education voted unanimously Jan. 14 to accept names voted by the public for three of its new schools.

The names of the new elementary and two middle schools are:

  • Fairfield Compass Elementary School, which will be constructed and then opened in 2017
  • The current Fairfield Middle School on Nilles Road will be renamed Fairfield Creekside Middle School
  • The current intermediate school on Donald Drive will be named Fairfield Crossroads Middle School

More than 1,000 students, staff and community members voted, according to the district.

The new buildings were made possible last year when voters passed a $61 million bond issue. State funds are paying the other $19 million for the buildings.
