Man wanted for multiple crimes arrested at Butler County elementary school playground

Police were dispatched to an apartment complex on College Corner Pike at 3:51 a.m. Jan. 11 concerning a man being sought for numerous criminal acts hiding in the woods adjacent to the location, according to a police report.

The man, Donald Hamilton, 37, had been reported walking in the parking lot and the responding officer reported he arrived to see Hamilton running toward him but ignoring commands to stop. He continued to run back toward the treeline, still ignoring orders to stop, and the officer pursued him to the field next to Kramer Elementary School. He entered the playground area and stopped running, raising his hands into the air.

He was ordered to lie down on the ground and was handcuffed.

Officers had been called there earlier in the evening regarding Hamilton allegedly committing various criminal acts, but fled each time as officers arrived. It was discovered there were multiple warrants for his arrest from several police agencies.

He was taken to the Butler County Jail on the warrants with an additional charge of obstructing official business added.

Lists of property were cited in the report as well as five pages of photos of damage to equipment.
