Long stretch of warm days unusual, last one 17 years ago

The Miami Valley is going to go into an abnormally warm stretch of days in February that we haven't seen in 17 years.

During the end of February to early March in 2000, a similar stretch of warmer than normal days was recorded. At that time, temperatures were above 50 degrees for ten days in a row. That stretch actually broke records with highs on Feb. 25 and 26 reaching the low 70s.

This year our warm period won't be record breaking, but it will be similar in length. Keep in mind average highs should be around 40 degrees this time of year; heading into next weekend extended outlooks keep us at least ten degrees above normal.
