Jack in the Box plans to hire 100 for new location

Jack in the Box is hiring about 100 employees for its new location in West Chester Twp..

Scheduled to open in mid-September, the 2,812-square-foot location at at 7425 Tylersville Road just off Interstate 75 will be the first Jack in the Box restaurant to open in Ohio. A second location is scheduled to open later this year at 5234 Ridge Avenue in Pleasant Ridge with 100 employees.

Jack in the Box spokesman Brian Luscomb said a position at the restaurant will be great for those with strong customer service skills who may or may not have a lot of work experience. Benefits being offered by the company include medical, dental, vision, vacation time and flexible scheduling.

“Even though we’re still targeting mid-September for our first grand opening, we’re looking to fill the bulk of these positions in the next few weeks so that we can begin training,” Luscomb said.

Ohio will be the chain’s 21st state. In addition to the two announced locations, Jack in the Box is looking at other sites in the Greater Cincinnati area and for a franchisee to operate these and future restaurants in the region, Luscomb said.

“I can’t speculate on how many or where we’re looking,” he said. “With a presence in only 20 states, there is a lot of room for expansion.”

In addition to 24/7 drive-thru service, the restaurant will offer indoor seating for 67 guests and outdoor seating for 15 guests.

Cincinnati is one of five markets in Jack in the Box’s system that it’s developing as part of a ‘seeding’ strategy, in which it opens company-operated restaurants while simultaneously looking for a franchisee to acquire the market, Luscomb said.

“It’s a very collaborative approach to new market development,” he said. “By seeding a market with company-operated restaurants, we’re able to secure great locations, open restaurants with the full support of our marketing and operations teams and establish a sales history and cash flows that could help a franchisee secure the necessary financing to continue expanding in the market.”
