WAYNE TWP.— Warren County Park District officials are encouraging people to take advantage of the weather while they can and attend the annual Fall Festival this weekend.

“It’s true,” said Dave Woehr, naturalist for the Warren County Park District. “Before long we’ll be seeing more of the inside than the outside.”

The fifth annual Warren County Parks’ Fall Festival will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hisey Park, 5443 Middletown Road, near Waynesville.

“The Fall Festival is sort of a last blast before winter sinks in,” Woehr said. “The park district holds events throughout the year and this one is set up to celebrate the beautiful fall foliage and cool comfortable weather.”

Woehr said weather forecast calls for a great weekend to enjoy nature and the great outdoors.

Among the featured attractions at the Fall Festival is a live demonstration from officials with Care Flight, who will fly in on their helicopter and demonstrate a rescue operation.

Live country music will be performed throughout the day by several bands. Both dogs and children can enter costume contests and win prizes from local merchants.

The Glen Helen Raptor center will bring birds of prey that they are rehabbing for visitors to learn about.

This is the fifth year for the festival, which Woehr said typically averages about 1,000 people throughout the day.

The festival also showcases one of Woehr’s favorite parks in Warren County.

“Hisey Park is tucked away from the sites of the city so it proves a great chance to see and interact with nature,” Woehr said.

Visitors can explore the trails and different natural settings around the converted farm.
