McAbee has served as a trustee for 16 of the past 24 years, first serving from 1996 to 2007 before losing the 2007 election. He was re-elected to the board in 2015.
McAbee was challenged by local Realtor DeeDee Ollis, who earned 37.2 percent of the vote, and former Fairfield Twp. trustee Steve Morgan, who earned 16.2 percent.
Schultz was challenged by longtime township resident JoBeth Yambrich, whose father, the late Clarence “Bugs” Phalen, was a former Fairfield mayor. She earned 34 percent of the vote.
Schultz was appointed to the fiscal officer election two years ago after the sudden death of former fiscal officer Nancy Bock. She said she was “humble” winning Tuesday’s race.
“I’m happy they recognize my hard work in keeping the township fiscally strong while also maintaining stringent records since I was appointed,” Schultz said Tuesday night.
Schultz also thanked Yambrich “for running a clean campaign where we were able to run on our own record.”
Next for Schultz is to return to work “and continue to make sure all the trustees have all the financial information that they need to make sound decisions.”
