Crash into Butler County airport hangar sends 1 person to hospital

A person was hospitalized today following a crash into an airport hangar.

Dispatchers said they received a call at 1:06 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into one of the hangars at Butler County Regional Airport at 2820 E. Airport Drive. Responding to the scene was Fairfield Fire Department, which took the person to Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital.

Emergency dispatchers told this media outlet that no further information was available today about the person, including name, age, gender, condition or extent of injuries.

Although the majority of the airport and its runway is in Hamilton, its hangars are in Fairfield, dispatchers said.

Scanner traffic indicated entrapment and mentioned a medical helicopter, but dispatchers said they could not confirm if the patient required transport elsewhere following being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
