Couple blessed with baby after years of trying

Leah and Chad Seymour finally have the gift they’ve always wanted.

The Lebanon couple, after nine years of trying, now have a newborn baby to care for and introduce to the world.

“It’s the biggest miracle that’s happened to me,” Leah said while holding son, Connor. “I look at him and I’m just thankful and amazed.”

Leah, 38, and her husband Chad, 41, have been married for nearly 15 years and for the last almost-decade have been trying to have a baby.

“We thought it would be easy,” she said.

The couple experienced multiple miscarriages and several rounds of in vitro fertilization. The couple was seriously considering adoption when in January of this year, they learned about a new drug trial for women with unexplained issues through the Institute for Reproductive Health in West Chester Twp.

“It was a roller coaster of emotions,” Leah said. “It’s probably the biggest challenge we’ve had in our lives. … It made our marriage stronger.”

On Valentine’s Day, the couple found out they were pregnant and heard their baby’s heartbeat. Every doctor’s appointment was a milestone, Leah said, as they waited for their son to be born.

Connor Forrest Seymour was born Oct. 3.

Leah said this Thanksgiving, and the entire holiday season, will be “totally different than it’s ever been before.”

During past holidays, Leah said there was always “a little empty spot” as she and Chad wondered if they’d ever have a baby.

“The first time I saw his face, those nine years just went away,” Leah said. “It’s the hardest work I’ve ever done with the biggest reward I’ve ever gotten.”
