Council interviews six for clerk job

Angela Jolivette is leaving the position to be a stay-at-home mom.

FAIRFIELD — City Council is currently looking for a new clerk of council.

Angela Jolivette, who has been clerk since 2009 and with the city for a decade, is stepping down to become a stay-at-home mom.

“My last day with the city will be Friday, June 29. I have been with the city for 10 years and will find it difficult to leave, but I am looking forward to spending time with my two children,” she said.

Fairfield City Council met in a special session last week to interview candidates for Jolivette’s replacement. The six candidates are Amy Beth Able, Jessica Kolde, Vanessa Rasmus, Christine Roach, Denise Thomas and Alisha Wilson. The salary range for the position is $46,311 to $90,388.

Mayor Ron D’Epifanio said that 184 resumes were submitted. The mayor said council was “very near” a final decision, which they hope to make by the end of this week.

However, D’Epifanio said he hates to see Jolivette go and wishes her well.

“It breaks my heart ... we had two of the best with Angie and (predecessor) Dena (Morsch) ... but I wish every mom could be a stay-at-home mom,” he said.

The clerk of council is responsible for the management, coordination and supervision of the City Council office, and provides office support to the mayor. According to the city website, duties include scheduling meetings as well as preparing and processing council agendas, council communications, meeting transcripts, reports, spreadsheets and purchasing.
