The state is reporting a total of 5,379 hospitalizations during the pandemic, with 1,416 ICU admissions.
Ohio continues to reopen amid the pandemic with Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announcing more reopening dates during Thursday’s press conference.
Athletic training and conditioning can resume for all sports on May 26 as long as physical contact is avoided among other health measures.
Also on May 26, batting cages, bowling alleys and mini golf businesses can reopen.
While public gatherings are limited to 10 or else people, starting June, banquet halls and catering services can reopen with crowds of up to 300 people.
Banquet halls and catering businesses have to operate under guidelines for restaurants and bars, which includes no congregation areas and practicing social distancing.
Also on Thursday, DeWine gave an update on the state’s Minority Health Strike Force, which looks at disparities in coronavirus cases in minority and vulnerable populations.
African Americans make up 14% of Ohio’s population, yet account for at least 25% of the COVID-19 cases, 30% of hospitalizations and 17% of the deaths.
DeWine’s next press conference on the pandemic is scheduled for Tuesday.
