Vacant house fire in Hamilton ruled arson

A fire early this morning at a vacant Hamilton home has been ruled an arson, according to Fire Investigator Trevor Snider.

No other information was available, he said, adding that the investigation is continuing.

INITIAL REPORT:

The cause of a fire early this morning at a vacant Hamilton home is under investigation.

Firefighters arrived at 1218 South Second St. at 3 a.m. and “discovered that 75 percent of the structure was on fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief Lawrence Gassert.

The fire caused significant damage to the single story residence, according to Gassert.

The fire was battled primarily from the outside of the home, he said. Eventually, firefighters were able to go inside the home to “perform a secondary search.” The home was vacant, he said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries reported.
