“We have been on the air in Cincinnati for almost 10 years,” said Bill Levitt, station manager. “The format is Catholic talk radio.”
Sacred Heart Radio produces the morning drive-time program “The Son Rise Morning Show” featuring Brian Patrick, part of which is also syndicated nationally through Eternal World Television Network.
“The reason we were so interested in this station is that our AM station could not reach Hamilton, so we felt that this area has been underserved,” Levitt said.
To raise funds for the purchase, the station held a pledge drive and garnered support from Archbiship Dennis Schnurr and other high-ranking members of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Levitt said.
The programming will be the same as on Sacred Heart Radio’s other stations, a mix of original shows such as “The Son Rise Morning Show” and shows syndicated through EWTN.
The Hamilton Board of Education likely will vote on the sale at its Sept. 14 regular meeting. The FCC approval could take as long as 90 days, according to district officials.
The district decided to sell the station and its equipment earlier this year after discontinuing the broadcasting arts program at Hamilton High School’s Job Development Center.
Levitt said that Sacred Heart Radio will not start broadcasting on the 89.5 frequency in Hamilton until all of the approvals are complete.
