Car crashes into house in Hamilton

A two-car accident sent a car crashing into a house today near the intersection of Brookwood and Carlisle avenues on Hamilton’s west side.

Paramedics at the scene said two female drivers were taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital, but did not know the extent of their injuries.

A gray Ford Taurus hit one of three bedrooms in the home at 988 Carlisle Avenue.

Scott Sawyer, 18, was inside the bedroom when the accident happened, according to his aunt Dawn Burns.

“I’m just glad he’s OK,” said Burns, who was not in the home at the time of the crash. “It’s totaled,” she said of the bedroom. “He’s not even able to go in to get his clothes or anything.”

Burns said the crash destroyed her nephew’s bed, dresser, TV stand and part of his closet.

Neighbor Mike Russel said he’s not surprised an accident occurred near the intersection.

“Accidents happen here at least a couple times a year,” he said. “They need to slow down before somebody gets killed. We need a four-way stop.”

Hamilton Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
