FIRST REPORT: Medical helicopter called to motorcycle crash in Preble County

Corrections Sgt. Carol Seals, 54, died from injuries as a result of the accident, Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said today.

The accident occurred on May 12 along Gettysburg Drake Road near New Paris.

“Sergeant Seals was one of my hardest working employees who is loved by everyone she supervised and worked side by side with. Sergeant Seals was passionate about her career in law enforcement and corrections,” Jones said. “If there is one thing I’m sure of, it’s that whomever I hired and was trained by Sgt. Seals was going to excel in their own career. Her values are instilled in everyone that has been lucky enough to have her as their supervisor, instructor, co-worker, and friend.”

Seals began her career at the sheriff’s office as a corrections officer in 2005 after leaving the Fairfield Police Department as a law enforcement officer.

Seals brought many years of experience with her, which enabled her to quickly promote to the rank of Corrections Sergeant in 2007, Jones said.
