Boy on bike in critical condition after being hit by car in Middletown

A 14-year-old Middletown boy remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while on his bike Sunday afternoon.

Chris Taylor was riding a bicycle south on Highland Street when he was struck by a car while crossing Roosevelt Boulevard in the crosswalk, according to the State Highway Patrol.

He was hit by a 2005 Audi A6 that was headed east on Roosevelt Boulevard. Troopers said the driver of the car, Alyx T. Shields, 21, of Middletown, had a green light and they don’t know why Taylor was in the intersection, but Goldman Park is located nearby.

Taylor was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he was listed in critical condition on Monday afternoon, said Trooper Tyler Ross. Shields was not injured, Ross said.

Middletown police and paramedics also responded to the crash. The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact the Patrol’s Hamilton Post at 513-863-4608.

Ross said the post has received a few tips about the accident so far.
