Local man near Belgium reacts to attacks

Mike Mossel, owner of the Dayton Dutch Lions soccer team, said he’s currently in the Netherlands, about an hour from the airport in Brussels, Belgium. He spends much time during the summers in Holland, Netherlands, near the border of Belgium.

“It is a big shock here right now,” Mossel said during a phone interview. “… That kind of creates people being scared but also angry.”

He’s scheduled to return to the states April 4.

Mossel said he believes attacks like these are “very hard” to prevent. He said the grief and sadness from this event can be channeled into “what are we going to do about this?”

“But it is certainly creating a lot of national discussions and also a lot of blaming. That’s why I think we’ve got to keep our heads cool and really analyze this carefully. And not panic or doing things that we might regret later,” Mossel said.
