Some school districts close TODAY due to frigid weather

Three Butler County school districts didn’t hesitate Thursday in calling for closed schools Friday, citing the below-zero wind chills forecast for morning.

Hamilton, Middletown and Talawanda schools will be closed Friday, said school officials from each district.

All cited forecasts of morning temperatures near zero with wind-chill impact in the negative mid-teens.

School officials are concerned about students walking to school and waiting for school buses in the extreme cold.

Tony Orr, superintendent of the 10,000-student Hamilton Schools, sent the notice out to parents and on social media, noting the reason was the “extreme wind chill.”

Middletown school officials cited the same reason, as did Talawanda officials.
