The remaining four board members will now begin the process of appointing a new member, who under Ohio school law will have to be on the November ballot and win voter approval to retain the four-year seat through 2022.

School Board Vice President Ed Bosse told the Journal-News the board is saddened by the departure.

Bosse said Stitsinger, who is an attorney, “brought a lot of expertise in that area.”

“We will miss him dearly and we are losing a lot of experience,” he said. “It’s not a good day for Ross Schools, but we will move on.”

In recent years Ross Schools, which enrolls more than 2,800 students, has consistently been among the top academic performers in the region.
