“The board was very impressed with the experience Bryan brings to the table, especially given the work he’s done for another growing community,” Matacic said. “With Liberty Twp. at a pivotal point in commercial and residential growth, it’s exciting to be able to add such an asset to our team.”
Trustees voted Tuesday evening to hire Behrmann, who starts at the job Dec. 8 at an annual salary of $77,000.
Jonathan West, who left Oct. 10 to become assistant city manager of the Village of Indian Hill after nearly 10 years with Liberty Twp.
Behrmann, who lives in Liberty Twp. with his wife Bridget and two sons, Camden and Grayson, said he was honored to be selected and looked forward to the opportunity to serve the community.
“After moving to Liberty Twp. a couple of years ago, my family and I have witnessed the fast-paced growth of this evolving community,” he said. “I look forward to building upon the strong foundation the township has built and playing an active role in its future growth.”
Prior to his 12 years with West Chester Twp., Behrmann served Dearborn County, Ind. as planner/enforcement officer and planning & zoning director. He earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning.
Twenty-one people applied for the planning and zoning director position, which is listed at a pay range of between $60,000 and $96,000.
Trustees narrowed the field down to four earlier this month and conducted interviews on Nov. 6.
Trustee Vice President Tom Farrell said township officials are “thrilled” to add Behrmann to its professional team and that he knows he will do an excellent job leading the township’s planning and zoning department.
“It’s safe to say, this position is more critical than ever given the exciting projects underway and in the pipeline,” Farrell said. “We look forward to his leadership and contributions.”
