Hobby Lobby sets opening date in Fairfield Twp.

The new Hobby Lobby in Fairfield Twp. will open its doors for the first time on Sept. 28.

This will relocate the store from 780 NW Washington Blvd. in Hamilton. The 55,000-square-foot store at 6718 Gilmore Road, near the intersection of Princeton Road, will face Menards and share an access point with Fiehrer Motors.

“ This move will heighten (our customers’) service and shopping experience,” said John Schumacher, Assistant Vice President of Advertising for Hobby Lobby.

The Fairfield Twp. store will have between 30 to 50 employees, which is the standard number for any location, said Hobby Lobby spokesman Zack Higbee.

The Hamilton location closes Sept. 26. The employees at that store will be allowed to relocate to the new store, he said.

Higbee said the relocation is part of a company strategy in this region.

“We are always evaluating markets and how to place our stores. With this store and with others in the Cincinnati market, we have repositioned our stores over the last three years to better serve our customers,” he said.

The township sought Hobby Lobby to boost economic development. Anchor Properties, based in Covington, Ky., developed the new Hobby Lobby site and has overseen other development in that corridor.

“We actually bought a piece of property in Fairfield Twp. back right before the (economic) crash, in 2006 or 2007,” Matt Grever of Anchor Properties told the Journal-News when the Hobby Lobby was announced earlier this year. “We built the Frisch’s and the Firestone and then the economy just went sideways on us and everyone else. Things were kind of on hold.”

Hobby Lobby has nearly 700 stores across the nation, offering more than 70,000 crafting and home decor products in its stores, according to the company.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. All Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sundays.
