Here’s what Middletown will be doing to fix some streets in 2018

While Middletown’s street crews are preparing for whatever the next winter storm is, city officials are looking ahead to 2018’s street paving program.

Scott Tadych, public works director, said the city is planning to spend about $2.35 million in paving this year.

Tadych said the largest paving project this year will be the $2 million South Breiel Boulevard between Lefferson Road and Oxford State Road. He said that project will include about $1.1 million in Ohio Public Works Commission funding plus the assessments for sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

The city is also planning to repave portions of several other streets that include:

  • South Main Street, between 18th Avenue and the city limits.
  • Goldman Avenue, between Orchard and Highland streets.
  • Lewis Street, between Jackson Lane and Eaton Avenue.
  • Marshall Road, between between Manchester Road and Riverview Drive.
  • Park Lane, the entire street.

Tadych said city crews are planning to pave a number of residential streets as well as repair or replace sidewalks, curbs and gutters. He said the estimated paving costs would be about $350,000 plus the assessments for the sidewalks, curbs and gutters. However, those streets have not been determined by city officials, he said.

Tadych said the city is in the process of updating the Pavement Condition Index of all city streets which lists the pavement conditions of streets.
