A company new to the city hopes to grow its own brand line of automotive lubricant and coolant products.
Coolants Plus Inc. is an national wholesale distributor of lubricants, antifreeze, coolants, grease and oils. It sells well-known name brands including Pennzoil, Mobil and Prestone to suppliers stocking the shelves of automotive retailers and conveniences stores, said Vice President Darrin Ward. Customers also include other distributors.
Coolants Plus also packages its own line of automotive fluids under the brand name STARFIRE. By packaging its own label of fluid products without paying for the same amount of advertising as major brands, distributor Coolants Plus can sell its STARFIRE products to customers for less.
“In the last 18 months, we’re trying to add as much as we can” to the STARFIRE product lineup, Ward said.
“This line, it’s now being taken nationwide. It’s done better than we expected,” he said.
Since moving to Hamilton from West Chester Twp. and opening in the former Pease Warehouse on Van Hook Avenue, Coolants Plus has grown from about 18 to 27 employees in Hamilton, Ward said. Coolants Plus has about 39 total employees when including a distribution business located in Tennessee.
The Hamilton distribution warehouse gives the distributor approximately 100,000-square-feet of space, which is more room to stock inventory than its previous 30,000-square-foot location, Ward said.
Coolants Plus catalogs, and boxes containing products, all bear the name “Hamilton, Ohio,” in the address line, which Ward says promotes the city.
“We sell all across the United States of America,” Ward said.
Founded in 1999, Coolants competes on customer service and delivery times, said Inventory Control Manager Chris Schwieterman.
Pease Warehouse & Kitchen Showroom moved to 1780 S. Erie Highway, the former Kmart store in the Hamilton Crossings shopping center.
