Job seekers will have their choice of hiring events in the coming weeks, as some of Butler and Warren counties’ largest employers are recruiting.

Applicants that want face time with hiring managers for AK Steel’s Middletown Works, Liberty Center tenants, and the new Barclaycard US call center opening in Hamilton can’t miss the following events.

Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern

The Columbus-based restaurant chain has opened a temporary hiring office at 7132 Cincinnati Dayton Road in the Liberty Pointe shopping center, according to a spokeswoman. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Additionally, Rusty Bucket will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at its new hiring office. During that time, applicants are required to bring their resume, if possible, and a pen to fill out an application. One year of dining work experience is preferred but not required. The hiring fair will consist of applicants learning about the restaurant and an open interview with the general manager and management team, according to the company.

Rusty Bucket is hiring about 100 people for its new location at the $350 million Liberty Center development in Liberty Twp., Kristen Hinshaw, human resources manager, previously told Journal-News. Liberty Center is under construction now. Full- and part-time job openings include servers, bartenders, hosts and hostesses, line cooks, and general utility cleaning staff, Hinshaw said.

AK Steel

The Butler County steelmaker is partnering with OhioMeansJobs to host two job fairs this week. The first is from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at OhioMeansJobs-Butler County, located at 4631 Dixie Hwy. (Ohio 4) in Fairfield.

The second event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at OhioMeansJobs-Warren County, located at 300 East Silver Street in Lebanon.

Applications can also be submitted online by visiting the career section of www.aksteel.com.

AK Steel has between 50 to 100 full-time production job openings at its Middletown Works steel plant with pay starting at $18.03 per hour, according to the company.

Koch Foods

As part of ongoing hiring efforts, Fairfield food manufacturer Koch Foods Inc. has scheduled a job fair for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at OhioMeansJobs-Butler County.

The poultry processor told Journal-News in June it had about 200 job openings due to the addition of a new production line.

Hiring includes positions for general labor, sanitation and production stackers.

Those that can’t attend the job fair can submit applications in-person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays at the local manufacturing site, 4100 Port Union Road.

Koch Foods is headquartered in Park Ridge, Ill. Currently the company in Butler County employs about 840 hourly and salary jobs, according to the human resources department.

A date has been set for the second career fair with tenants of the approximately $350 million Liberty Center retail and office complex.

Job seekers can apply and share their resumes from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, during the career fair to be held at Lakota East High School, 6840 Lakota Lane, Liberty Twp., according to the town center’s managers.

An initial career fair was held in July in partnership with OhioMeansJobs and others.

Liberty Center is the name of the mixed-use mega complex being built in Butler County’s Liberty Twp. near the intersection of Interstate 75, Ohio 129 and Liberty Way. The project’s first phase consists of just over 1 million-square-feet of shopping, dining, office and residential space. A grand opening has been scheduled for October.

One tenant, craft beer and pizza eatery Pies & Pints, is asking job seekers to call General Manager Jeremy Street at 937-287-2161 to schedule an interview. Candidates are being interviewed at Lasting Reflections, 7577 Central Parke Blvd., Mason. Times available are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays; and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, according to OhioMeansJobs.

Barclaycard US

Barclaycard US announced Aug. 17 plans to open a call center promising to create 1,500 new jobs in Hamilton at Vora Technology Park.

Barclaycard is a payments business and a division of United Kingdom-based Barclays Bank. Employees of the center will provide customer service support for card members who participate in the 25 co-branded credit card programs offered by the business, as well as payment products featuring the Barclaycard brand, according to the company.

Hiring kicks off with a job fair scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Vora Technology, 101 Knightsbridge Drive. Plans are to add up to 250 new employees next year.

Customer service, supervisory and technology positions are available, said Larry Drexler, chief privacy officer for Barclaycard US.

“We want to hire people and give them an entrée into our business and a chance to grow with our company,” Drexler told Journal-News. “We have benefits that we think are industry leading and the idea of bringing people on for careers, not just a year or a few months.”
