Firefighters were called to the house about 4:20 a.m. and found heavy fire coming from the second floor.
“They were getting information that is was a vacant house,” Lolli said. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to knock the fire down.
When searching the house after the initial knock down, firefighters found the person on the floor,
“At this point it is undermined if it is male or female,” Lolli said. The owner of the home died about a month ago, the chief said.
The coroner’s office is on the scene and a fire investigation team the includes firefighters and police detectives are working to determine the fire cause.

We’re working to learn more about a fatal fire that happened early this morning in Middletown.
Fire officials are investigating the incident that reportedly happened at a home in the 1500 block of Jacoby Avenue.
