Family chosen to adopt Trooper, the puppy struck by a train in Hamilton

Animal Friends Humane Society has announced that it has chosen a family to adopt Trooper, the puppy who was hit by a Hamilton train last month.

The family has experience with disabled animals, and someone will be home with him at all times to give him the care he needs, officials said. He will be leaving his foster family and moving in with his new family in the coming days.

The recent train accident amputated both rear legs and most of his tail. The left eye was also damaged by the impact and was assessed by a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist, who confirmed that it could not be saved. Vets also performed additional amputations on both rear limbs and tail.
