Deanna Jean Hall, 27, of NW Washington Blvd., allegedly took a 500-foot bundle of wire off the store shelf at around 9 p.m. on May 25 and then went to the customer service desk to return the item for store credit, according to a police report.

The return was denied and she left, leaving the wire — valued at $47.25 — behind.

A Menards loss prevention officer showed video footage of the woman’s alleged actions, according to the report.

The woman’s driver’s license information was recorded when she attempted the return, and store officials were able to obtain a license plate number from the Ford F-150 truck she arrived in, according to the report.

Hall is being charged with attempted theft through Area II Court.
