Grocery shopper chases man who fled after trying to cash bad check

A Loveland man faces several charges after he allegedly tried to cash a “bad check” Tuesday at Fifth Third Bank inside the Middletown Kroger, police said.

Kevin Hamill, 31, allegedly tried to cash the check, then when the bank notified Middletown police, the man ran out of the bank and into the grocery store parking lot, said Maj. David Birk.

A shopper tried to stop the suspect, who eventually was arrested by police, Birk said.

At one point officers were chasing the suspect and the shopper, Birk said.
