Hamilton residents reported hearing several shots Wednesday afternoon before a man was killed just south of a church, a few blocks from his home.
Rodderick Dontae Trammell, 36, was found dead at the intersection of Hanover Street and Garden Avenue at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Hamilton police report.

That location is just south of St. Joseph Catholic Church on South Second Street, and a couple blocks from Trammell’s home, police said.
He suffered major head trauma and was on the ground “pulseless and not breathing,” according to the police report.
A female caller told 911 dispatchers said: “I heard a lot of shots … there is a man laying on the ground.”
The woman told dispatchers to send an ambulance, but declined to check on the man’s medical condition.
“I am not going out there ‘cause I don’t know where the shoots came from,” she told dispatchers.
Another caller said: “I am seeing him right now on the ground.”
Two men were seen running through the alley after four of five gunshots were fired, a caller told dispatchers.

Hamilton Sgt. Richard Burkhardt said Trammell was shot and was targeted. The case is being investigated as a homicide and there have been no arrests, Burkhardt said.
The Butler County Coroner’s office ruled Trammel’s death a homicide following an autopsy. He suffered a gunshot wound.
