Butler County sheriff continues free fishing event to connect kids with law enforcement

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and the Fairfield Optimist Club will team up Saturday for their second Fish with the Sheriff event.

Children ages 7 to 14 are invited to the lake at 194 Joe Nuxhall Way in Fairfield to connect with law enforcement. The event is from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Bait, poles and tackle, donated by local businesses, will be provided along with lunch for participants. Prizes will also be given for largest catch.

Last year was the premiere for the event that Sheriff Richard Jones said he plans to continue as part of his community policing programs.
