Chili beer? It’s a thing in Cincinnati, and just in time for National Chili Day

Taft’s is brewing a Cincy Chili Porter, a limited-time Gold Star Chili-inspired brew featuring the popular Maverick Chocolate Porter with added Gold Star spices like cinnamon and dried chiles.

Those looking to get a pour before it’s gone can tap the first keg from 5 to 10 p.m. Feb. 28 at Taft’s Brewing Co. Brewporium, 4831 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati.

Taft’s also will be making specialty Gold Star Chili New Haven style pizzas and loaded tater-tots for the event.

Taft’s will donate $1 from each Gold Star beer and menu item sold on National Chili Day to the Freestore Foodbank. Donations to the Freestore Foodbank are also welcome.

The first 25 people to walk in the door at 5 p.m. will get a gift basket from Taft’s and Gold Star.

Also on National Chili Day, every 3-Way purchased will have Gold Star making a donation to Freestore Foodbank’s Power Pack program to help fight childhood hunger. Last year, the Cincinnati chili chain donated $10,000, which helped feed over 2,000 children in local communities. This year, with the help of local residents, Gold Star hopes to feed thousands more.
