How this new Hamilton tavern is trying to offer something a little different in the bar scene

A new board game parlor and tavern in Hamilton’s German Village makes its debut and aims to be an alternative venue to the traditional bar scene.

A Game Knight opened at 4 p.m. on Nov. 30, at 345 North 3rd St.

Owner Bryan Brunner, a Hamilton native, previously told the Journal-News he envisions family and friends turning out to the business to dine on food, grab a drink and share a new board game or an old favorite.

A Game Knight will feature more than 300 games in its board game library, plus trivia leagues and Friday night "Magic: The Gathering" play.

It also features sandwiches, pizzas, snacks and desserts, plus craft beers, cocktails, wine, soda, coffee and tea.

Brunner said he chose to locate the business in Hamilton’s German Village because of the city’s “booming” economic revitalization, including The Marcum apartments and the planned Spooky Nook Sports at Champion Mill.

Hours are 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Minors must be accompanied by an adult, and the hours of 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. are reserved for ages 18 and older.
