Check out 5 new businesses coming to Butler County

Five new businesses coming to Butler County have to do with either feeding clientele or helping make them look good.

In the former category is a new location of Flub’s along Ohio 128 in Ross.

Formerly occupied by Ross Kreamy Whip, the storefront at 4065 Hamilton-Cleves Road will be ready to open March 6 following a facelift this winter, according to owner Brian Connaughton.

“We’ve revamped the whole inside and painted it, just getting it up to Flub’s standards,” he said. “Everything’s been updated, basically.”

Originally known as Flub’s Dari-ette, the ice cream shop opened its Hamilton location in 1965 and its Fairfield location in 2006. Besides ice cream, it also offers sherbets and Italian ice. Opening in Ross was a matter of listening to customers.

“We’ve had a lot of people that drive from Ross to come to get Flub’s (in Hamilton) … and everybody from Ross was wanting us in Ross,” he said.

Flub’s on Eaton Avenue in Hamilton will open for the season March 1. The Fairfield storefront on Wessel Drive is set to open at the end of March.

HAMILTON

IVY Hair Salon has opened at 116 Main St. The new business aims to offer a modern take on the traditional salon and barber shop by providing a "comforting, yet rejuvenating atmosphere" for clients to relax and unwind, according to the salon's Facebook site.

FAIRFIELD

Burger King is coming to 525 Kolb Drive in Fairfield at a former steakhouse. The project, which sits near just northwest of Forest Fair Village, is expected to open in May and will employ up to 60 people.

The property owner, Atlanta-based GPS Hospitality Partners, operates 222 Burger King restaurants nationwide, including locations on Pleasant Avenue in Fairfield, Muhlhauser Road in West Chester Twp., North Liberty Drive in Liberty Twp. and Hamilton-Lebanon Road in Monroe.

Raising Cane's has designs on a strip center plaza at Ohio 4 and Stadium Drive that once housed the Armed Forces Career Center.

The Fairfield location would sit in front of the entrance to the Fairfield High School football stadium and would be the county's second Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, and fourth in the region.

A Raising Cane's restaurant opened this past spring in West Chester Twp. and was the first Cincinnati-area location. Since then, restaurants had opened in Springdale and Florence, Ky.

MONROE

Roxi and Violet's House of Hair recently opened at 134 S. Main St. in Monroe at the former site of Diamond Sports Company. The new salon offers a variety of hair styling, eyelash tinting and waxing services.

Business partners Cassie Grubb and Sheli Fugate are joined by stylist Leah Newman.
