Butler-Warren county health care expansion

Cincinnati- and Dayton-area hospital networks have the following building projects in various stages in Butler and Warren counties:

1. Kettering Health Network opened in February 2015 a freestanding emergency department in Franklin. It's the same hospital group that owns Fort Hamilton Hospital.

2. Atrium Medical Center, part of Premier Health, is adding a wound care center at the Middletown hospital, set to open August 2015.

3. UC Health opened in April 2015 a new primary care office in Liberty Twp. on Princeton-Glendale Rd.

4. Already Liberty Twp.'s largest employer, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has a pair of construction projects underway at its Liberty Campus, seen from Interstate 75. The total investment to add an inpatient floor and built a proton therapy center for cancer treatment is approximately $160 million. The hospital expansion will open in August 2015, and proton therapy is expected to open in 2017.

5. The Christ Hospital Health Network confirmed late 2014 plans to expand in Butler County, but has shared little more in details about the project or investment. Spokeswoman Christa Moore said only that "we have made a significant commitment." Speculation is that Christ Hospital is eying land near Liberty Way and Interstate 75 in Liberty Twp.

6. UC Health opened at its West Chester Hospital in April 2015 a new $10 million maternity unit.

7. Mason mental health hospital Lindner Center of HOPE, a joint venture of Lindner Family Foundation and UC Health, launched in May 2014 a $15 million fundraising campaign to help pay for costs of building expansion and other capital improvements. A building project under construction in 2014 made room for a new teen residential treatment program, and upgraded facilities for the adult residential treatment program.

8. Premier Health opened in April 2015 an $11.5 million medical facility in Mason including a 24-hour emergency center, physician offices and medical spa.

9. Cincinnati Children's also completed at the end of 2013 major renovations of its Mason Campus, actually in Deerfield Twp. These new services were added: ophthalmology, a cerebral palsy clinic and dermatology, according to the hospital.

10. Mental health hospital Beckett Springs in West Chester Twp. has a $4 million expansion underway to be completed in 2015. The project will grow the hospital from 48 inpatient beds to 72 beds.

11. TriHealth first started expanding into Butler County in 2012 with the purchase of the former Butler County Medical Center in Hamilton. A 51,000-square-foot expansion is underway on the Bethesda Butler campus to expand from 10 patient beds to 48 beds during multiple phases of construction to be completed later in 2015 and 2016.

12. In 2014, UC Health opened a primary care office in Trenton on West State Street.

13. Premier Health opened in 2014 a health center including primary care, physical therapy, medical imaging and other services on the campus of Edgewood City Schools at 3590 Busenbark Rd., St. Clair Twp.

14. On April 22, 2015, Miami University and Mercy Health — Cincinnati announced a new partnership between the organizations to collaborate on academic initiatives, provide sports medicine services and sponsor a student-athlete sports medicine and rehabilitation center. As part of the deal, Mercy Health will provide $10 million over 13 years to support construction of the Gunlock Family Performance Center including a "state-of-the-art" sports medicine and rehabilitation center. The center is scheduled to open Jan. 1, 2017.

15. TriHealth and Oxford hospital McCullough-Hyde Memorial finalized plans earlier in 2015 to affiliate, a deal in which TriHealth will take majority ownership in the independently-owned Butler County hospital.
