Butler County vigil to honor Charlottesville victims

Butler County community leaders are holding a community candlelight vigil tonight to honor those killed and injured last weekend in Charlottesville, Va.

One woman and two Virginia state troopers died, and 19 others were injured last weekend during a white nationalists’ rally and a gathering of counter protesters.

The NAACP of Hamilton, Fairfield and West Chester chapter, the NAACP Middletown chapter, the 2nd and 4th Ward Community Council of Hamilton and the Butler County Democratic Party are hosting the local vigil from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 18.

Participants can meet in the parking lot behind the Butler County Democratic Party’s headquarters, 224 Park Ave. in Hamilton.

“We have several speakers lined up for tonight and we are firming up even more today,” Brian Hester, Butler County Democratic Party Communications Director said.
