The two stores are “welcome additions” to the section of the Austin Landing development that is “focused on value retail,” Misty Sirch, director of retail portfolio management for RG Properties, said in a news release. The retailers will be located in the southeast corner of the Austin Landing development, where RG Properties is developing about 77,000 square feet of retail space, the development company said.
TJX, the parent company for both TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, signed a lease for 45,000 square feet, and the two stores will split the space, RG Properties officials said. The existing TJ Maxx store near the Dayton Mall at 131 Springboro Road (Ohio 741), Miamisburg will close around the time the new Austin Landing store opens.
The first Dayton-area HomeGoods store opened a year ago near the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. It employed 60 at the time it opened. HomeGoods representatives did not return calls Friday, and TJ Maxx officials also could not be reached for comment.
A Kroger store, a Kohl’s department store, three office buildings and a parking garage already opened at the $150 million Austin Landing development at Ohio 741 and Austin Road. A 125-room Hilton Garden Inn with a 350-person conference center is scheduled to open by March 15. The development will also include a park, ice rink, stores, restaurants and more than 100 residences, all of which are scheduled to be in place by the end this year. A 14-screen Regal cinema with a 60-foot entrance is in the works as well.
