Summer-like temperatures today; chance for rain returns Tuesday

Today will be sunny and warm with summer-like temperatures as highs hit the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

There will be a slight wind coming from the southwest. Skies will be mostly clear overnight and the temperature will drop to 67 degrees.

Tuesday it will be most sunny with a possibility of showers overnight into Wednesday. Scattered showers and storms are forecasted after 8 p.m. Tuesday, with gusty winds being the primary threat, according to NWS. The rainfall amounts are of less than a tenth of an inch.

The high will be near 87 degrees Tuesday. There will be 6 to 14 mph winds coming from the southwest.

Wednesday the high is near 80 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 80%. There is a marginal threat of isolated strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon, but they would likely be short-lived, according to NWS. By Wednesday night, the risk for showers and storms will wane.

Overnight the low will be 64.
